What makes us different from other photographers in London?

In addition to specialising in male portraiture, gay couples and families, our uniqueness is in the experience itself. We know how busy your life can be and want the whole portrait experience to be as hassle free as possible. With us, no experience or knowledge of photography or modelling is required.

Do I need to have modelling experience?

Absolutely not! Our clients come from a variety of backgrounds and most of them have never done a photo shoot like this before. So you don’t need to know anything about modelling or photography to take part. You are hiring a professional photographer to make you look stunning so you leave that to us.

How much time will this whole portrait experience take from start to finish?

If you were to visit a photography studio to get a similar service you would be looking at over 12 hours of time required to do it all. This includes visiting photography studio for multiple occasions and also travel time in London. With us you are cutting this time instantly in half (down to 6 hours) since we are coming to you each step of the way rather than you having to come to us. This is one of the main reasons why most families book us – they can’t be bothered by the logistics it would require to move a family back-and-forth to a photography studio on multiple days.

I’m not as young. thin or handsome like people on your website; can I still book a portrait session ?

Yes you can and that’s actually a very good reason why you should commission us! We at JP Harrow Portraits are all about helping men of all ages to feel confident about themselves through the art of photography. Our photographers are experts in what they do and we have yet to come across a person who we haven’t been able to make look stunning in portraits. 


Booking Sessions & Investments

What is a Portrait Session fee and what does it include?

Our portrait session fee is currently £250 and it covers: the photographer’s (and his assistant’s) time and travel expenses inside London (UK) on the day of the photo shoot, high end level retouching for your images, a bespoke product design service, and one image preview & ordering session at your location. Session fees do not include any photographic products, those are to be purchased separately during your image preview and ordering session.

Can I book a photo shoot even though I don’t live in London ?

Of course you can! We are more than happy to come to you whether you live elsewhere in the UK or abroad. All shoots taking place outside London will require an additional charge depending on your location plus there will also be a minimum spend towards your final order. Any portrait sessions arranged to take place outside the UK will be quoted on case-by-case basis and in these cases the client is responsible for arranging any necessary work and location permits.

So how much will this all cost me?

Due to the bespoke nature of our service we can’t really provide you with an estimate how much you might spend on our services and products. Each client is different. Our custom wall-art starts at £450 and Signature Portfolio Boxes at £1200. Our bespoke Signature Books (fine art albums range) start at £3500, which also includes all showcased images from your image preview session in a digital form. The bottom line is that with us it is entirely up to you to decide what you wish to purchase. 

Do you have a minimum spend?

Absolutely not. With us it is entirely up to you to decide what you wish to purchase. Whether you wish to invest £500, £4000 or £8000, it is all up to you. We don’t hard sell.

Can I schedule my portrait session for a weekend?

Yes you can! The session fees are the same regardless of whether your portrait session takes place during weekdays or the weekend, but an additional fee is added for portrait sessions taking place during bank holidays. Please note that our availability during weekends is very limited and there can be a longer waiting list if you wish to arrange your shoot for a Saturday or Sunday.

Photo Shoot

How long will the actual photo shoot last?

Most of my photo shoots last between 2-4 hours depending on where the photo shoot takes place. If it’s an outdoor photo shoot in a park, it usually lasts between 2-3 hours. If we come to your home and do both indoor and outdoor photos then you can expect the experience to last between 3-4 hours. 

Where do your photo shoots take place?

All of our portrait sessions take place on location. This could be your home, a local park or any beautiful location or venue you might have an access to. Each client can always choose if they wish to only do indoor or outdoor pictures or both. The most popular option especially with families is that we start their session at their home and then walk to a nearby park to do rest of the images. 

Do you only shoot on location?

Yes. We believe that your images will mean much more to you when they are taken at a location that you are already familiar with. Our creative team are experts in turning everyday locations and people’s homes into photography studios that can produce exceptional results. 

Can my portrait session take place outdoors?

Yes it can! Many of our clients actually prefer to do half of the photo shoot inside their home and second other half outside. This way you get more variety from your shoot and it’s also more exciting experience!

How long does the actual photo shoot last?

Individual and couples portrait sessions tend to last 2-3 hours and family sessions between 3-4 hours. These are just rough estimates and do vary based on client and what their needs are. Are very flexible with our times and not fussed if it takes a bit longer than expected to finish a session.

What kind of images can we create during my photo shoot?

This is fully up to you and depends on what goals you have for your photo shoot. You can see a broad range of styles we have previously created by browsing our website. Anything you see here is also possible for you. So if you wish to include few professional headshots for your family session that is also doable!

How about hair and make-up?

Men don’t generally need make-up to do a photo shoot but if we feel you need a little bit touching up we can apply some products from our travelling make-up kit. If you wish, you can add a professional make-up & hair stylist to your shoot for an extra fee.

Can I include a pet to my portrait session?

Yes you can.

What should I wear in my portrait session?

If you decide to commission us, we will provide you with personalised advice and tips on what to wear on the day. In addition to this, your welcome folder will include a latest copy of our official Portrait Guide, which has even more information on what types of clothes work best for a photo shoot.

After Your Photo Shoot

When will I get to see the new images?

Your new images will be ready for viewing two weeks time from the date of your photo shoot. We can also provide a speedier delivery upon request but this will incur an extra charge.

How many images will I see from my portrait session?

During your image preview & ordering session you will be presented with approximately 20-70 fully edited images from your photo shoot. If you booked a family session you will obviously get to see more images compared to those who only booked a session to do individual portraits for themselves. Regardless of how many images have been taken during your session, we pride ourself ourselves on only showing you the best images that match our high standards.

How soon can I receive the products I order?

We will always aim to deliver your products as soon as we receive them, and generally our delivery times are 4-6 weeks from the date you paid the order in full. This is due to the custom nature of our bespoke products which are all handcrafted to your specific requirements.

Can I also get the digital files?

Absolutely! Any images that you include in your product purchases (wall art, portfolio boxes, etc.) you will also get free of charge in digital form. All of our digital images will be formatted for resolution that is suitable for sharing on social media. We do not give out high resolution files as we want to ensure all prints out there meet our artistic standards. 



Do you offer gift certificates?

What if I don’t like my images?

In the unlikely scenario that you don’t like the portraits we have created for you, we would offer you a complimentary re-shoot or a full refund of your session fee. We stand proudly behind our craft and we believe you are going to love your new images and if you don’t then we don’t deserve your money.  It’s really that simple so you have nothing to lose by commissioning us.

Who has the copyrights to the images from my photo shoot?

We do retain the copyright to all of the images we create. Any images you purchase you will be granted a license to use the images for personal use (sharing images with friends and family on social media and so on).

What happens in case of illness?

If you or anyone taking part on your photo shoot were to become ill prior your portrait session, please let us know as soon as possible. We are always happy to reschedule your session since we know it’s a bad idea to push through a photo shoot when feeling under the weather.
